He completed his undergraduate medical degree from King’s College London in the UK, and is currently a member of both the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
Dr Asthana caters for both insured and uninsured patients in his private practice and has a public hospital appointment at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
He has published multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals, textbook chapters and continues his research interests with a focus on training physicians using ultrasound in both inflammatory bowel disease and functional gut disorders. In particular, he believes in holistic medicine and has a passion for advocating and educating the public on digestive disease care.
Dr Asthana is the founding Chair for GENIUS (National Intestinal Ultrasound committee) & is the National founding and current chair for GESA (National Gastroenterology Society) Private Practice Network.


He underwent advanced training at The Austin Hospital with an interest in hepatology. He manages all gastroenterology and hepatology matters and is highly proficient in endoscopy and capsule endoscopy. He worked at Eastern Health and currently practises out of both Knox Private and Mitcham Private Hospital.
He obtained his primary medical degree from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and completed advanced training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at major public hospitals in Melbourne including Western Health and the Alfred Hospital. Kumanan then completed three further years of post-fellowship training in a broad range of advanced endoscopy procedures, and has expertise in ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound) and EMR (Endoscopic Mucosal Resection).
Kumanan holds a public appointment at Western Health, and his academic interests are in quality in endoscopy. He believes in working collaboratively with patients and multi-disciplinary colleagues to facilitate evidence-based care and best outcomes.


Mat has more than 20 years of experience and expertise in the field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has vast experience in handling complex Gastroenterology and Hepatology cases and has a keen interest in IBD and Liver diseases.
Currently Mat performs both diagnostic/therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy including PEG tube/Jejunal feeding tube insertions and is GESA certified. He performs a wide variety of therapeutic endoscopic procedures including variceal bandings, Endoscopic dilatations, Argon Plasma Coagulation, Bipolar thermal therapy, Polypectomies, Endoscopic mucosal resection of large polyps, Endoscopic Haemoclips for haemostasis and Haemorrhoidal banding.
Mat has joined private practice with Anil Asthana at Precision Gastroenterology and has a public appointment at Werribee Mercy. Mat is looking forward to serve you and your patients. Dr Krish Dutt is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. He provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for all gastrointestinal and liver conditions.
Dr Dutt completed his medical training at the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne, followed by advanced training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology through major Melbourne hospitals, including Eastern Health and Austin Health. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and holds accreditation in colonoscopy, gastroscopy, intestinal ultrasound and FibroScan.
His clinical interests include IBD, liver disease, coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), bowel cancer screening and general hepatology. He is also skilled in performing a range of endoscopic and ultrasound-based procedures.
Dr Dutt is completing a PhD through Monash University and Eastern Health, where his research focuses on the relationship between IBD and metabolic dysfunction. He has contributed to several IBD clinical trials and has presented his work at national and international conferences.
Dr Dutt is committed to providing patient-centred care and working collaboratively with GPs and other specialists to achieve the best possible outcomes.


Dr Leshni Pillay is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. She is dedicated to providing personalised, evidence-based care for patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions.
Dr Pillay completed her advanced training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at major Melbourne hospitals, including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where she also undertook a dedicated fellowship in IBD. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and holds accreditation in gastroscopy, colonoscopy and intestinal ultrasound.
Her clinical interests include IBD, liver disease, coeliac disease, bowel cancer screening and intestinal ultrasound. She is experienced in managing complex gastrointestinal conditions and caring for adolescents transitioning to adult care.
Dr Pillay is completing a PhD in IBD through the University of Melbourne and is actively involved in research and medical education. She has published in leading journals, presented at international conferences and volunteers with the Australia and New Zealand Gastroenterology International Training Association (ANZGITA), supporting gastroenterology training in the Pacific region.
Dr Pillay is committed to collaborative, compassionate care and works closely with GPs and other specialists to optimise patient outcomes.
